When to choose Typeform

Marketing and growth teams, whose contact with customers often begins with a form, can have Typeform carry the answers into the systems that act on them, connecting to HubSpot, Salesforce, Slack and Excel Online, among others. From the Plus plan it removes Typeform branding and adds a brand kit, so forms go out under the company's own look, and multi-user accounts come with the Plus and Business plans. Its Growth Flow plan is built for marketing workflow automation, and Talent is sold to HR teams.

A team that already works with Typeform can also buy Research Flow, Typeform's AI-moderated research product, through its sales team, as it would the Enterprise plan. Research Flow has built-in screening and quota management, transcribes each session automatically and shares its summaries and themes as reports, which suits a team that wants its AI-moderated studies and its forms from one vendor. Typeform is GDPR compliant and offers HIPAA compliance on its Enterprise plan, which a team collecting customer details in Europe, or health details in the US, will want confirmed before it signs.

Where one interview study follows another, Pulse gathers the findings of every study into one repository, searchable later, each study beside the last, so the next brief can start from what the team already knows. Participants take each interview on their own phone or laptop whenever it suits them, without a call being booked. Because each participant hears questions from the one guide the study's brief produced, the interviews can be read against each other, answer by answer.

Moving from Typeform to Pulse

  1. Reuse the lead form's questions as a screener. A Typeform lead-capture form asks every prospect the same few things, such as company size, job role or the product they came for. Those questions can become the first Pulse brief's screener, so the interview reaches the same kind of lead. Above them, write what the growth team wants to learn and the areas the interview should cover.
  2. Bring in the leads the forms captured. Lead-capture forms leave a team with a list of people who have already raised a hand. That list can be the first study's audience, starting with the leads from a single campaign. It goes into Pulse as an upload, and each person on it is invited to an interview.
  3. Put the leads' words into the next campaign. The quotes under each Pulse theme record how leads describe the problem that brought them to a Typeform form. Pass them, still filed under their themes, to whoever writes the growth team's next campaign, so its ads, landing page and lead-capture form put that problem in the words those leads used for it themselves.

What Research Flow and Pulse have in common

Both products look after the people taking part in a study and the quality of what they say, which matters to a research lead who pays participants and has to trust their answers. Research Flow recruits verified participants from its panel or works with a company's own audience, builds in protections for response quality and manages incentives, and Pulse checks every participant for fraud and handles their incentives itself.

Both also pass findings around as video. Research Flow shares video highlight reels alongside its reports, and Pulse cuts its own highlight reels and clips from each study's interviews, so a product team can pass a customer's own words to colleagues who never open a report.

Response modes in an AI-moderated study

Typeform's Research Flow runs AI-moderated studies in text, audio and video. Pulse interviews run by voice, by video and in text chat, and a team can also hold them by phone call or on WhatsApp.

Probing a reply

Typeform's Research Flow asks adaptive AI follow-up questions, which capture tone, hesitation and emotional nuance. Pulse's moderator follows each answer as it comes in, and when a reply is vague it puts a second question before moving on to the next area of the guide.

Querying a finished study

Typeform's Research Flow lets a team query its findings directly. Pulse also answers questions about a study's results, working from that study's interviews, for a growth team whose next question about its leads comes after the study has closed.

Time from launch to findings

Typeform says a Research Flow study can be live within minutes of setup, with insights following within hours as answers arrive. Pulse compresses fieldwork and the first synthesis from weeks into hours and writes the study's report automatically, for a team whose decision will not wait on a long project.

Single sign-on protocols

Typeform's Enterprise plan offers three single sign-on protocols, SAML, OAuth and OpenID. Pulse's single sign-on works over SAML or OIDC, set up on request for an enterprise-plan customer, whose staff then reach their interview studies with the company login they already use.
