Medallia alternatives

The Medallia alternatives, briefly

  • QuestionPro, Alchemer, Qualtrics, Entropik and Pulse all run surveys, as Medallia does. QuestionPro's Communities reward members, Alchemer's cleaning flags straightlined answers, and Qualtrics offers a plan with custom pricing on survey responses and video minutes.
  • Entropik and QuestionPro's ListenAI both use eye tracking and read emotion from faces and voices, and Entropik keeps facial images apart from participants' personal data.
  • Pulse, Entropik's AI Moderator and QuestionPro's ListenAI hold AI-moderated interviews that participants take without a booked call, and Pulse sends findings into Notion and Confluence.

Why teams look for an alternative to Medallia

While the software as a whole is really intuitive, the skip logic is not the easiest to navigate without initial guidance.

The alternatives, one by one

Pulse

Best for CX teams taking a question from their Medallia feedback into interviews

Pulse, the AI-moderated research platform, runs interviews with customers at scale and turns the conversations into themes grouped by what people said, with the quotes behind each. A team sets the question, the areas to cover, the audience and the screener, and Pulse builds the interview from that brief.

Strengths

  • A full transcript with every recording
  • B2B and expert recruitment
  • Usability and task-based testing

Verdict A Pulse study can run overnight, with fieldwork and first synthesis in hours. Entropik gives structured insights in 48 hours. Medallia's Agile Research reports through automated report links and real-time dashboards.

Where another tool fits Pulse is built for the interviews in which a CX team asks its customers why. Where a participant's attention goes is better read by eye tracking, which Entropik offers as eye gaze tracking and QuestionPro's ListenAI builds into its interviews.

QuestionPro

Best for Teams that want AskIH to surface insights from an InsightsHub repository

QuestionPro pairs its survey platform with market research tools. VideoAI analyzes transcripts, sentiment and emotion in video feedback, ListenAI runs AI-moderated interviews, and Voice AI captures verbal data across languages.

Strengths

  • Screening questions with terminate logic
  • A REST API with JSON responses
  • 8 regional data centers

Keep in mind

  • The Research Suite takes a sales conversation and 10+ users

Verdict Where a Medallia program would reward research participants through a community, QuestionPro's Communities pay members in cash or donations as well as points and badges.

Alchemer

Best for Teams linking feedback to Salesforce, HubSpot or Slack among 400+ integrations

Alchemer collects feedback through surveys, reviews, social listening and in-app and web channels, all in one product. Advanced reporting and statistical tools come with the Full Access plan, and it offers REST API v5.

Strengths

  • Customer-managed retention and deletion
  • Role-based access control with MFA

Verdict For a Medallia program whose surveys go out to panel respondents, Alchemer's data cleaning sets speeders aside in quarantine and flags straightlined answers.

Qualtrics

Best for Product and UX teams running Unmoderated User Testing

Qualtrics is aimed at brand, ad, product, UX and market research. Qualtrics Assist answers plain-language questions about the results, and a searchable Research Hub library is offered on its new pricing plans and to Preview Program participants.

Strengths

  • Bot and duplicate detection on responses
  • Permissions set per user, user type, group and division
  • Research Services behind 28,000+ projects

Verdict Qualtrics sets custom prices on survey responses and minutes of video feedback; for video studies moved over from Medallia Video, the minutes are the count to estimate first.

Entropik

Best for Ad, shopper and packaging research with 103M+ panel reach across 120 countries

Entropik interviews through an AI Moderator, which works in 70+ languages, and also runs live moderated sessions. It tests concepts and prototypes, runs moderated, unmoderated and task-based usability tests, builds reports automatically, and keeps research searchable in its Insights Hub.

Strengths

  • An AI-built guide around your stimuli, or your own
  • ISO 27001 certified by TUVSUD

Verdict Entropik keeps the facial images its emotion AI reads apart from participants' personal data, a safeguard to weigh beside Medallia's masking of PII by access rights.

How we evaluated

We compared what each tool's own product, pricing and security pages state against the criteria below. Every fact in the table above links to the page it came from, with the date it was read.

  • Feedback reach. Which sources the tool collects from, whether surveys, in-app, web, reviews, social or conversations.
  • Open text and video. How themes, sentiment and emotion are found, and whether video is part of the analysis.
  • Program governance. Roles, single sign-on and how personal data is masked or removed.
  • Recruiting for a study. Whether the tool can recruit an audience for a study, in addition to inviting known customers.
  • Sharing results. How findings leave the platform for colleagues who never log in, the problem the third review above describes.

Which one to choose

  • If AI-moderated interviews should also time each answer, choose QuestionPro, whose ListenAI reads response latency; Medallia Video reads sentiment and facial emotion from its recordings.
  • If a feedback program should pay by its records, not by channel, stay with Medallia, whose Experience Data Record pricing comes in annual tiers and charges nothing per channel.
  • If customers should take an interview when it suits them, with no call to book, choose Pulse, whose AI-moderated interviews need no scheduling; Entropik's sessions are also asynchronous, and QuestionPro's AI-moderated interviews need no live call either.

Why Medallia customers run interviews on Pulse

Customers the program already knows

Medallia invites known customers by email or SMS, and Pulse can take the same list into an AI-moderated interview. Entropik shares a session link with a team's own participants and QuestionPro sends surveys to uploaded email lists, and both run AI-moderated interviews.

Findings in Notion and Confluence

Pulse sends a study's findings into Notion and Confluence, so colleagues who never open a research tool read them in the pages where their team already keeps its plans and decisions.

A second question for a vague answer

On Pulse, the AI moderator puts a second question to a vague answer. QuestionPro's ListenAI and Entropik's AI Moderator also probe in their interviews, and Qualtrics' Adaptive Follow-Ups and Alchemer's AI-generated follow-up question ask one as well.
